Tree MinutesNovember 1, 2023 Now that fall is here and you’re out in the yard raking leaves and doing fall clean up, take some tree minutes and assess your trees for hazards and overall health. Here are a few things you should look for: Most evergreens and deciduous trees have some form of deadwood in them, so don’t worry. When the top is dying or in decline, that is when it should be addressed. Other signs to watch out for are: insect activity, woodpeckers, and conk. Conk is a mushroom – like growth on the tree, usually near the bottom or up one side. If conk is present, it should be looked at by one of our professionals. Other forms of hazards are multiple tops which are 2 or more, “widow makers”, which are hanging dead branches or tops, If you are unsure of any of these problems, please call us for a free estimate.
